Dear All, I noticed that some here on the list purchased a new WP8 for linux from a website that is no longer working. Does anyone know how I could find a copy of WP8 for linux that was recently discussed here? Thanks, Marcia

Dear Gary, Thank you for your prompt answer. I have found it. I appreciate your help. Is it worth downloading and using? Do any of you really like it after using it awhile? Thanks alot, Marcia

piece of cake <g> You are welcome.

I have not purchased it yet, but plan to shortly. It is of nominal cost, and I like to support WordPerfect for Linux in any way possible, so that Corel hopefully will continue to improve/expand upon it. To me, it is far superior as a word processor, IMO. and I use Wordperfect professionally, over all other word processors, so yes I prefer it. <g> Codeweaver is supposed to come out with a wine version which supports WP, but this has been on the drawing board for a very long time, and nothing has been done to date, after almost a year, so my feeling is to go with the source directly, which is Corel, now that they have updated WP8 for Linux. -- Gary

Yes, I like it a lot and this is from one who served as a beta testor for the WP and PR programs for over 10 years. It perfomes quite well, and has handled everythign I thrown itss way with aplomb. I can HIGHLY recommed it!

IF you want Codeweaver's to work on WordPerfect go to their site and vote for it. Right now it has less than 10 votes (when I checked last month) and according to the owner of Codeweavers it's unlikely that they will be working on WP unless it gets enough votes to be competitive with those products which have received votes in the hundreds. I pledged $$$$ support for the project in addition for voting for it, you can give it up to two votes, but it sems unlikely that it will be worked on unless we can muster up a LARGE number of additional votes. See also my previous posts these past few days. dave

- From their site it sounds like this is a native (not wine dependent) version, is this true. Yes, their WP product has had a natural Linux version for quite sometime. It was their Office suite that ran under Wine. From visiting the site, it sounds like they might be ready to get back in the Linux game. I hope it's not too late for them. We have some very nice replacement programs available, but then many of us grew up using WP on many platforms, so it has an attraction still. From the performance I've seen with it compared to that of the WP I have installed as part of the Corel Office 2000 for Linux Suite, I would have to say it definitely is. dave

If you are in North America, you can buy it direct from Corel. Go to www.corel.com then all products, and scroll down. It has a 30 day money-back guarantee, so I would wait until you have SuSE 9.1 installed and working, assuming you will get 9.1. --doug
