[opensuse] OpenOffice 3.2 from Stable - How to get Normal file Open/Save Dialog back?
Guys, I have OO 3.2 from the STABLE repository installed and it has that terrible file open/save dialog enabled that has no way to navigate folders accept by going up/down one folder at a time. I can't recall how to change the setup so I get the normal qt looking dialogs. This is on 11.0 with OpenOffice_org-3.2.0.7-1.1 installed. What I see now is: http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/img/ss/ooo/oldDialogs.jpg What I want to see is: http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/img/ss/ooo/gioDialogs.jpg What's the trick? -- David C. Don't know, you have something odd.... I don't have anything like either example: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/OOO.file-dialog.jpg 11.2 x86_64 kde 4.4.1 OpenOffice_org-3.2.0.7-1.1.x86_64 -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Now that's what I want to see! I remember some setting somewhere that would allow you to get different dialogs, but for the life of me I can't recall what it was. Further, with the rapid change in both OO and KDE, I'm not sure the old approach is even applicable anymore. I'll keep googling, thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. You are coloring the context. Except for the OO version, my KDE install is plain-jane. NO change was necessary to get the display I provided. And afaicr, the same open-file-dialogue I have seen for quite some time. Make a new user and open that session and initiate OpenOffice and check the file-dialogue. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Please, make sure that you have installed the package OpenOffice_org-kde4 in KDE4. Also make sure that the check box "Tools/Options.../OpenOffice.org/General/Use OpenOffice.org dialogs" is disabled.

Thank You Petr! Installing OpenOffice_org-gnome and OpenOffice_org-kde seems to have solved it. (at least it did for gnome, I have checked kde yet, but I'll bet it's fixed). Yep, it fixed it in kde too! Now, I wonder how in the heck those packages got removed. When I did my original OO package selection, I always include the kde and gnome packages, just like I do with Compiz. One of the updates between 3.0 and 3.2 must have deleted them, because I didn't consciously do it. Gremlins.. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Well Almost, I'll have to go look for the OpenOffice_org-kde4 package. The file open dialogs are fixed in Gnome and kde3, but not kde4. Where do I find the kde4 package? It does NOT exist in: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_11... is it hidden somewhere? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_11... Unfortunately, the -kde4 subpackage can be built only with newer KDE4, so it is available only for openSUSE-11.2 and newer. -- Best Regards, Petr Mladek software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: pmladek@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 952 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
