Some time in the last two weeks, I saw linkage to an article written by one of this list's members on making a G450 work (quite nicely) with SuSE Linux 7.2 or 7.3. I wonder if that author would pipe up; I liked that article, but lost the linkage to it... Also, my CPU consumption in X SUCKS. Grabbing something like an xcalc window around on the screen shoots CPU through the roof. Typing letters in a Mozilla mail window (like this one) also uses CPU. My Voodoo3 was much more efficient. The situation is the same whether I use XFree86' modules or the Matrox-provided modules (currently using the Matrox modules). I'm open to suggestions, so here's a snip from my XF86Config-4 file: Section "Module" Load "ddc" Load "GLcore" Load "dbe" Load "dri" Load "extmod" Load "glx" Load "pex5" Load "record" Load "xie" Load "bitmap" Load "freetype" Load "speedo" Load "type1" Load "vbe" Load "int10" Load "render" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Generic Video Card" Driver "mga" # Option "UseFBdev" "true" Option "ShadowFB" "true" Option "AGPMode" "2" Option "OverclockMem" EndSection -- -=|JP|=- Need a good geek? Hehe. Commenting ShadowFB made it faster, but it's still not great. :] -- -=|JP|=- Need a good geek? I'm unemployed!
