NB: This is a different machine in a differnet country to my other post here! Just one of those bad luck weeks. After a routine reboot the server (x86 SuSE 8.0), came back up reporting error with eth0 (this machine has only one active NIC). After reconfiguring the card, I get nothing from it (ifconfig -a doens't show eth0 anymore, which I beleive means no driver for the NIC is loaded). My most recent effort was to modify a solution I found in the SuSE support DB for CD Rom issues. Thats is... using hwscan --list delete the unique ID file from /var/lib/hardware and run hwbootscan to redetect (NIC is once more detected and listed in hwscan). Reconfigured and still no joy. Additional (unnoticed for a long while) issues were that mounting floppy or CD on this machine always raised and error of 'unkown filesystem type', media that mounted fine on other machines. Again, any insight woul be apprcaited. Thanks guys...
