Excuse my ignorance, but can please explain to me why I need to add these statements, and what their effect on my current system is. You probably will need to: put "alias scsi_hostadaptor ide-scsi" in modules.conf
and put "append hdb=ide-sci" in lilo.conf or grub.conf
