RE: [SLE] KDE splash screen hang fix
I'm using kde2.1.0-1x and do not have the splash screen hang, but I do see the long logout problem. So I tried commenting out the LD_BIND_NOW line in startkde. When I re-started kde, I got the spash screen hang!!! I uncommented the line, and the hang went away. Maybe something else in the script has changed..... Yes, this appears to have fix the splash screen hang, and it did seem to reduce the logout delay, but it still takes about twelve seconds from when
I
click 'Logout' to when it actually logs out (the drive doesn't seem to be doing anything during the delay)...I completely uninstalled everything of KDE2 that I could, and did a fresh install...
Anyone else still having the Logout delay?
I havn't got the 2.1.1 isntalled yet so I havn't checked the new startkde script to see is suse fixed the problem but look in there for a line like LD_BIND_NOW=true kdeinit +kdesktop +kcminit +kicker +klipper +khotkeys kwrited If that line is still there it needs to be commented out. That fixes the splash screen hang, the long logout problem, and another one I can't remember right now. regards Mark -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

You might try removing the loooonnnnngggg filenames and ksmserverrc in ~/.kde2/share/config and try again. -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh@cfl.rr.com
