[opensuse] Kdetv And Sound Blaster Audigy SE don't match
hello I got today the following issue with kdetv. I've changed my sound card from an on board one to an Audigy SE. But I had the unpleasant surprise to see that i have no sound options of kdetv. In kdetv sound options i see the sound card but I can't see any mixer devices to control the sound of my tv tuner. Also the card is working very well in other applications. With the previous card it worked very well. I have the same sound card with an ATI TV Wonder/VE. It is loaded with module snd_ca0106. Firstly, did you disable the on-board sound in CMOS; kdetv may be sensitive to the presence of 2 cards. In the CA0106 Volume Control, File>>"Change Device", I selected the "0" card which CA0106(Alsa Mixer). In kdetv>>configure>>sound, the mixer driver = alsa. The alsa "configure" button shows available card = ca0106. I am using the sound card mixer (even if I select the tv card mixer, it still uses the sound card mixer); volume in kdetv is controlled by the "CAPTURE feedback" slider in the CA0106 Volume Control. Under "Recording" tab, I am using "Line in" slider. This card has a shared line-in and microphone socket; either choice works on mine. I do have an external cable between sound-out on the TV card to Line-in on the ca0106. I have no issues with this card. I have also used it with xawtv, xawtv4, motv. I never got mplayer tv to work and MythTV is still a mystery to me. Hope this helps. Let's get more basic then.
Does /etc/asound.state start with "start.CA0106"? I would also clean out entries for the other card. Reboot, and if it reappears, recheck the BIOS setting. The kernel may see it, but I don't know how with it disabled in BIOS. As root, run lsmod | grep ca0106 to see if snd_ca0106 and its related modules are loaded.
