Subject: Network problem III
Yes, part 3, this is starting to sound like a bad TV show in 400 episodes 8-)
Anyway, first of all I want to thank everybody for the help I received.
Here is my problem: I've got a D-Link DFE-530TX card but I can't get my computer
to recognize it. I've got a plain 7.0 installation. After some advice I've been
looking at www.scyld.com and the notes that can be cound there ... my guess is
that I've got a card eith the chipset described and thus need version 1.07 of
the via-rhine.c file.
So I downloaded the source files describes and compiled them according to
instructions (using the lines at the end of the file) but when I try the insmod
command as instructed I get the messages "unresolved symbol" for the functions
"pci_drv_register" and "pci_drv_unregister". (I also tried installing them och
tried modprobe with the same result).
This is not very suprising to me since I'm calling the via-rhine.o file but the
functions are in the other file ... but on the other hand I don't know anything
about how the network stuff works so ... what am I missing?
