Re:=?ISO-8859-1?Q?=A0Asus?= GeForce3 V8200 Deluxe install problem
Hi, Thanks for the help, but I am still struggling to get my Asus card working. I have installed the latest builds I found on the SuSE ftp site of XFree 4.0.3 and Sax2(march?). But I still get the same error messages. I can load the NVdriver with '/sbin/insmod NVdriver', and run 'sax2 -m 0=nvidia', then I get a window with the NVidia logo, and then again the sax2 window. But when I get to the card selection window there is no entry for an Asus card. When I select the NVidia option there is only driver for different GeForce2 cards and no GeForce3 drivers. I have tried some of the options but the X server freeze. What should I do? Regards, Jostein Berntsen On Sunday 03 June 2001 20:07, Ben Rosenberg wrote:
You might also try getting the latest XFree 4.0.3 builds from the ftp site and the latest SaX2 from the site..both very recently updated. This might help with your problem...because the card should work fine.

Hi Jostber. Ok, while your trying to nail down having the card module load automatically you might also send off this stuff to SuSE support. The reason I say this is because it's and issue with a GeForce"3"!!! and they will need to know about it. Being a newbie myself I can't remember exactly, but I seem to remember something about entering an "alias" line in the modules.conf file. I check into it and see what I can find and get back :) Cheers, Curtis On Monday 04 June 2001 06:15 am, jostber wrote:

Actually, I would send the output to nVidia..SuSE can't really do anything because it's most like a problem with the nVidia Xserver which is binary only and can't be modified...so they couldn't fix any issues if they wanted to...unless it's a sax2 problem or an Xfree problem, then they might be able to do something. This is the major drawback with closed source drivers. Gather your output and send email to nVidia with the exact information. * Curtis Rey (crrey@home.com) [010604 07:04]: ->Hi Jostber.
