[opensuse] Email archive solution?
openSuse list, I've used openSuse for about 10 years, (currently using 12.3 64 bit.) For most of that time I've used Evolution as my primary email client. I've managed to organize and save a sizable amount of email using the Evolution folder system, but its getting to be a large amount of data (about 10 gigs); and I was wondering if there was a better method to archive the emails. I'm talking about a single email address, so I don't really need a massive enterprise email archive system - just looking for something that can store and search mbox files by date, subject, or sender. I've looked at "Enkive", and "piler" either of which may work, if anyone has any other suggestions it would be appreciated. thanks, Regis -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I simply put the emails in folders, and access them via dovecot (an imap server), with any client I choose, even from other machines. Each folder is an mbox file. Of course, I can also have backups on DVDs. This way, the email client programs do not need to index a huge storage, that is done by dovecot, which after all, is designed for very large servings. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
