Pfffff..... just had RH removed from the system and did a final try. With the aic7xxx_old, because I didn't tried it before, but AGAIN it failed. I'm getting very dissapointed, because of this failure. Adaptec is the leading company in SCSI boards and SuSE doesn't support it!!! I cannot understand why SuSE isn't trying to fix this BIG problem. And it becomes much more painful to see that it works with RH on the fly! Harry

Harry, Have you checked "procinfo" and stuff for IRQ Conflicts? I had my Problem finally boil down to a Davicom Ethernet Card (dmfe) that somehow spilt itself all over the System. I removed the card, put another in and it worked. Also USB seems to always take the same IRQ as the AIC7xxx. Maybe there's a start ? But you ARE right, this should be adressed by SuSE ! I was in the same state as you, just a few days ago, and it is a PEST ! HTH Dan PS: As an incentive I attach the out put of "df -h" of my -now working- 3 SCSI Disk raid5 array. Beautiful. :-) Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/md0 1.5G 167M 1.3G 12% / /dev/sda1 76M 30M 43M 41% /boot /dev/md4 3.0G 33M 3.0G 2% /home /dev/md3 2.0G 692M 1.2G 37% /opt /dev/md5 408M 33M 376M 8% /tmp /dev/md1 2.9G 2.1G 734M 74% /usr /dev/md2 2.0G 175M 1.7G 10% /var shmfs 379M 0 379M 0% /dev/shm Am Mittwoch, 30.
