I have a little problem here: I just installed SuSE 7 Pro on 2 boxes. On one of them I picked mostly automatic settings and on it, emacs is working just fine, so I know it's possible. However on the second install I did a lot of manual selections. When I selected emacs, I got the usual message saying that I must select one of two helper packages in order to satisfy some dependencies. I accidently missed selecting one and couldn't get the dialog box back. I couldn't remember what it said, so I installed emacs without them. Emacs won't work at all with out these. I finnaly figured out which two packges I'd missed, and went back and installed them but I'm getting errors: "Opening input file: No such file or directory, /usr/lib/X11/locale/locale.alias" And emacs opens but doens't open the file I tell it to. This is after manually installing the xaw3d rpm (the one I missed during the main install) I have tired removing emacs and xaw3d, and reinstalling them, and letting yast automatically pick the packages, and I've also tried installing xaw95 and xaw95d, several times, nothing is working. I really need emacs on this system badly. There's no xserver installed as it is a server. Does anyone know a way to find exactly what all packages emacs depends on, so I can check to make sure they exist? Any advise is greatly appreciated. I need emacs prettly badly..... ---------------------------------------- Jonathan Wilson System Administrator Cedar Creek Software http://www.cedarcreeksoftware.com Central Texas IT http://www.centraltexasit.com
