Don't use gimp?
Use something better like Krita? http://www.koffice.org/krita/
At least Krita doesn't have a horrid SDI interface. :P
It also won't do or as well things that Gimp does!
I know - I like the plugins on GIMP. I use them for the logos on my websites: filesite.org is a gimp-creation. I just can't get past the interface or the arrogance of the GIMP people who won't even allow for an MDI option. (Netbeans, for example, allows both an MDI or SDI interface in the advanced options.) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I heard all those complaints before, and I'm sure there's validity to them. However, along with my 'puter work, I'm also a pro-photographer. The choice I have is use Gimp and stay MickySoft free, or use some junk from the "evil empire" and pay a huge amount of money for PhotoShop. The latter is a fine program to be sure, but unfortunately the people who produce it have their collective heads planted where there's no sunlight and won't port it to Linux. Ah, once again on your favourite crusade? Just maybe because calculations tell Adobe that the effort of porting Photoshop to Linux and maintaining it won't be profitable? Plus all those third party photoshop plugins which their repective manufacturers would also have to ported to Linux? That's not to say I wouldn't welcome a Linux version of Photoshop. Take into account that Adobe programs did not originate in MS Windows environment. | those third party photoshop plugins which their repective manufacturers | would also have to ported to Linux? Well their are porting from MAC to Windows already. What would be the easier way to port, from MAC to Windows or from MAC to Linux? IMO the reasons are different. Consider what would happen to Apple sells if Adobe would perform such a port. - -- All the best, Peter J. To be frank, I'd say it wont do much. My observations tell me that most Apple users in the arts and ad business have no interest in Linux. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Lots of computer users, especially Apple users who generally choose Apple because it is "simple and intuitive" perceive Linux as a monitor and keyboard hooked up to a mainframe with the only user interaction being long lines of typed commands and code. Maybe not that bad, but there is still this sentiment that Macs "do image manipulation" or "do sound recording/editing" better (than anything that could possibly exist), despite any evidence otherwise. --Jason -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

As if it's the OS that's doing either of these tasks. Most Mac buyers are technologically clueless. The only thing they're generally right on is that Windows is unreasonably unstable, and has way too many special cases which cause extreme frustration to anyone who expects the OS to follow a consistent set of rules.
