Using suse 8.1. Pro with an onboard CMI 8738 This is new with 8.1, did not happen with 7.3 mp3s play ok. with xmms wav are incredibly distorted. with xmms sound under winex is very distorted. sound under win4lin is fine when I play a wav with kaboodle or noatun they sound normal. so I made kaboodle the default wav player. alas, under winex the distortion is still there. -- Roy Cabaniss <rcaban@housedraco.org> housedraco

Hmm, I would suggest looking at the volume levels in your mixer, as if the level of the individual input is too high, it might distort.. had this problem on an older sound card once :o)
