Flamebait or Pheonix food (?)--no iso is bad
Dons Asbestos.... SuSE, why in Sam Hell did you bother to write "dedicated to you," in the crippled download version of 7.3? That is a gross piece of sophistry, I would have expected from the Borg! A live eval that only runs from a CD & VERY slowly? Why the BS? I am sure you 'listen to feedback', as someone from SuSE politely said to another poster, who asked as to the whereabouts of a non-crippled iso of 7.3.... Oh & I expect Santa Claws to come shortly also! I name SuSE as sophists, because "you" violate a principle of Linuxdom, that non-crippled iso's be made available to Joanne & Joe public, for a REAL Linux experience. Trying to FORCE persons to buy your distro, is silly/dumb/a-bad-thing when they can simply download or purchase a real iso. Actually, your market share seems to be stagnant or declining.... http://www.mandrakesoft.com/company/press/pr?n=/pr/business/1509 So howz about you improve your Linux share of 'good will' (people I speak with about the iso situation, in New Zealand & Aussie-think SuSE Sucks-for the reasons above), & your market share, but putting out non-crippled iso's? Well, I wish all on this list a Merry Xmas! To those who made the judgment call to cripple the iso, I heave a cream-custard tart in your face! Wake up, come back down to Linux Earth & have better business sense in 2002 Greek Geek --Leaves to finish off party arrangement. Yay, party time :-)
This has been done to death on this list - enough already! ISOs are made available some months after the boxed release, IIRC. I can't see what's wrong with buying a box set anyway - if you have no resources for that, then choose another of the distros that does do an ISO the way you want. That way everyone will be happy. For all you get with the boxed set, they're practically giving it away. If we want these companies to be able to continue releasing this great software, the least we can do is buy the box. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 7.2 Professional KDE 2.1.2 KMail 1.2 Bryan S. I hate to keep this thread going any longer than necessary, but no, they don't make the iso images available for x86 *at all* anymore. For some of the platforms like IIRC sparc or PPC, perhaps. Something about availability or some such. Didn't make much sense, really. But yes, this has been hashed out every which way. And obviously, SuSE has made up their mind. Bitching here, while it does relieve some individuals stress, doesn't make a damn bit of difference, or they would have brought back the GPL iso images already.
