Is there a GUI tool that can scan my /home for file dublets of files and help me do something about it? Janus -- Roskilde University, Denmark. Department of Technology and Social Science. International Development Studies. ESST - Society, Science and Technology in Europe.

Try Google: gg:find+duplicate+files+linux Found this: http://elonen.iki.fi/code/misc-notes/remove-duplicate-files/ That seems a nice one to me. It creates a script that you have to edit. You only need to remove a comment ('#') to let a file be removed as the script runs. That's ok, because there is only one person that knows what file to keep and what file to remove. [Until recently cut&paste resulted in a non-working script. This is fixed after a brief correspondence with the author.] If the duplicates are large, that the script will take ages to execute, because it calculates the MD5SUM of each file to determine if they are equal or not. You might want to throw in a size limit in the 'find -type f' part (man find). There are more, perhaps some of them run on X. Cheers, Leen
