The question I have is this when compiling the kernel on an AMD k6 how should I declare my cpu??? I declared it as a Pentium. Is this wrong???

What kind of optimizations (if any) are implemented when you select to compile a kernel to run on one cpu or another? I have a K6-333. I separate /usr and /usr/lib on different drives. And I run a
192megs of ram that helps but no other compile time optimizations.
The PPro select is one that the Docs from the Kernel said I should use.
