KMail did not fully support filtering for IMAP until version 1.9. You don't say which version of SuSE Linux you're running, but if it's 9.3 or 10.0, you can upgrade to KDE 3.5 which includes KMail 1.9.1 and your filters should work for IMAP accounts.

It's in whatever mirror you use for SuSE packages and look in the directory "i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/". It should be set up for yast-source and I recommend you update that way, not manually. Randall Schulz

Randall,
I had never used Yast Online update before , I did it first time now
,by configuring proxy in Yast -> Network Services ,and then starting
the patch download and install from an http site: you.novell.hu ,it
installed 124 patches/deltas etc ,but i could not update kmail as I
did not quite understand the lines below related to yast-source. Is
yast-source the same as yast-online-update

No, YOU is only for security fixes and really urgent bugfixes. YaST sources let you install software with the Software Management module, from your original install media and from newer sources.

Hi Will , The update to KDE-3.5 went well: I now have: linux:~ # kmail -v Qt: 3.3.5 KDE: 3.5.1 Level "a" KMail: 1.9.1 but coming back to the original issue ,filters in KMAIL are still not working , I selected I selected apply this filter on manual filtering ,and stop processing if it matches. I also get a popup saying these filters will work either manually or on incoming mail into the IMAP Inbox. besides kmail is repeatedly crashing on doing a check incoming mail ,here is the command line output linux:~ # kmail kmail: WARNING: [void KMFolderImap::setImapPath(const QString&)] ignoring empty path kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::plugAccel(): call to deprecated action. kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::plugAccel( kacc = 0x805f968 ): KAccel objec t already contains an action name "delete" kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::plugAccel(): call to deprecated action. kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::plugAccel( kacc = 0x805f968 ): KAccel objec t already contains an action name "edit" kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::plugAccel(): call to deprecated action. kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::plugAccel( kacc = 0x805f968 ): KAccel objec t already contains an action name "display_message" WeaverThreadLogger: thread (ID: 1) suspended.
