Corel syas hello MS goodbye linux
According to Cnet news the DOJ is once again investigating Microsoft, it appears strange to the DOJ ( and anyone else that is free thinking- doesn't seem strange to ditto heads) that shorlty after Microsoft invests in Corel, Corel announces they are shedding most their linux operating system business. http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1003-200-4813794.html?tag=mn_hd joe
I assume MS 'invests in' Corel means the same as when Brutus & co. 'invested in' Julius Caesar, or when the iceberg 'invested in' the Titanic, but I could be being unduly cynical here. All very bizarre, you'd have thought MS would have been so keen to promote Corel's Linux interests in the spirit of fair play ... Cheers Fergus On Wednesday 14 February 2001 09:32, you wrote:

The scary part is the new head of the DOJ ( actually the former head of the DOJ before Clinton took office) is considered very Microsoft friendly and may very well push to allow Microsoft even more "freedom to innovate" new ways of manipulating the market to squeeze out any business they feel is a possible threat to the MS monopoly power. This would not be good for linux growth in the real world market place, but some will argue that linux can't be affected by the real world market manipulation by the Microsoft monoply. joe
