I've not seen any such errors on the Athlon 2200 XP+ with nVidia FX5200. You could build with MTRR not set to see if that helps. I'm also using KDE and the opensource video driver with 9.0. Regards Sid. Andrew Williams wrote:

I am using the open-source drivers for the nVidia, not the binary-only ones that can be downloaded from their website. After one or two of these messages, the system hangs completely and must be reset. An extremely unpleasant side-effect is that my /var partition then needs treating with reiserfsck. The problem did not exist under 8.2, although that particular machine is normally my windoze machine so it does not get to run under linux much.

Any clues? It looks to me like a kernel bug :-(
