Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] Printing in LInux
No, no problems like that at all. I've just checked the GS printer compatability page & it recommends cdj850 for the 855 and 870Cxi. The page is: <A HREF="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/printer.html"><A HREF="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/printer.html</A">http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/printer.html</A</A>> It looks like cdj550 used to be the one to use but I guess it has been superceded. I don't know if you are perhaps using an old version of Ghostscript (recommended version numbers are given on the above page). If cdj550 works then fine but you should be aware that there is a comment about using the ljet4 driver for monochrome printing for some unexplained reason. Brian. lsayre wrote:
I tried the cdj850 driver (using YaST) for my HP 855 Cxi, and it prints only a small print in one corner of the paper. Changing apsfilter to 1n from 2n made it print on 1/4 of the paper vs. 1/8 with the default 2n. I changed to the cdj550 driver, and it works! Did you experience anything like this with your 890C?

I use an HP Deskjet 890C which I have configured under YaST by claiming it was an 850C (I chose cdj850) & I get full colour - the same number may work for you. I am guessing that hpdj is just a standard monochrome deskjet driver.
If you look in the printing HOW-TO you will find a link to the Ghostscript homepage, you can find out there which printers are supported and what you should configure them as with apsfilter.
Hope that helps.

Hello,
my printer is a HP 870 Cxi. I used YaST to configure it (with the ASP filter 'hpdj' , which seems to be the best for this printer _ I think ... ) It works fine, but in monochrome, whereas I switched all the 'color' options I could find.
Moreover, when I edit the configuration file in /etc, the color option is present.
Is someone using SuSE 5.2 and a HP 870 Cxi could help me ?

While we're on the subject of printers, has anyone managed to get DECENT colour output from a BJC-250? The filter seems to support only B/W (bjc200) and the bjc600 prints lousy colour on this printer.
