Grrrrr I was typing in a form (on /.) and my machine locked up~! Does anyone know 1.) If there would have been a tmp file somewhere with the contents of that form? 2.) If so, where? I had pressed the "preview reply" button and was editing when it happend. Not worth re-typing, though it's worth a shot to ask. Thanks in advance. B-)

Ok, looks like everything is in a file called formhistory.dat Bringing up the same webpage didn't trigger auto complete (If I'm remembering my opening words correctly) and there wasn't anything in history. So, I think my only chance for recovery is to be able to browse the contents of this file. Is that possible? B=) On Tuesday 15 March 2005 03:30 pm, Brad Bourn wrote:

Try it and see... :-) Hint: use 'less formhistory.dat' -- GPG fingerprint = 3D45 5509 D380 26A4 523E A9D8 A66A 5F38 CA43 BB0E

I used my slickedit IDE (does excellent on bin files) and didn't see much but the usual binary garbage as text. trying less.... same output { <(80=q$00)(81= $00I$00A$00N$00A$00L$00) (82=u$00n$00i$00c$00k$00n$00a$00m$00e$00) (83=b$00a$00d$00m$00a$00g$00i$00c$00) (84=m$00e$00b$00a$00d$00m$00a$00g$00i$00\ c$00)(85=f$00i$00r$00e$00f$00o$00x$00 $00.$009$00 $00t$00h$00e$00m$00e$00s$00) } probably encrypted. Didn't see anything in firefox either to be able to browse.... B-) On Wednesday 16 March 2005 04:35 am, jalal wrote:

hmmm, didn't seem to make much difference (still didn't have any english...) tried strings formhistory.dat and strings -a formhistory.dat Were you able to get it to work with this file? Isn't this file encrypted? It doesn't really matter anymore for actual situation that started this thread. However, now I'm curious if there is a utility out there that would allow you to see what is in the formhistory.dat file. Maybe a firefox list or chatroom would have the knowledge. hmmmmmmmmmmmm Thanks anyway Patrick, strings sure looks useful! I'll remember that one
