[opensuse] zypper dup 32 bit -> 64 bit ?

I have installed the 32-bit version of 11.4 on a system. I have decided that I would like to try the 64-bit version. I expect that the only way to do this is to do a re-install. But I thought I would ask if there was an alternative. Anyone know of one? Perhaps I will generate an autoyast description of my system, and change it to specify a 64-bit version, and then do the install with that. Any other suggestions welcome. It is not a production system. You can try setting the arch in /etc/zypp.conf and then issue "zypper ref" to refresh and then "zypper dup" should set it. I have done before on 11.2 and 11.3 systems HTH Togan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It is possible to upgrade, but it is not supported. Do a full backup first. I did 11.0 (32) --> 11.2 (64), via DVD. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. My worry was the since I am not changing from 11.4, something may not get updated. A backup will indeed be done. I have this madness slated for this weekend. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. Indeed, lot of things were not upgraded in my case, due to a bug: 11.2 dvd upgrade did not use network repos, so I had to review all rpms for incorrect versions and change them. I used: rpm -q -a --queryformat "%{INSTALLTIME}\t%{INSTALLTIME:day} \ %{BUILDTIME:day} %-30{NAME}\t%15{VERSION}-%-7{RELEASE}\t%{arch} \ %25{VENDOR}%25{PACKAGER} == %{DISTRIBUTION} %{DISTTAG}\n" \ | sort | cut --fields="2-" > rpmlist

Good luck :-) - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
