I find the default font sizes under Gnome very difficult to read. How can I change them? The Gnome Help Browser and the GIMP help are the ones I was particularly interested in, but I notice that Netscape text is ridiculously tiny, too. An alternative solution would be to change screen resolution. How do I do that? Chris Willmot

If you've set up alternate resolutions, you can switch resolutions using Ctrl-Alt-+ and Ctrl-Alt-- . If you don't have other resolutions set up, do this using sax/sax2, but make sure you back up your XF86Config file just in case... I don't know if this is the case for the latest XFree 4, but for 3.3.6 you could increase the font size by editing XF86Config and finding the lines specifying the 'FontPath's and swapping the two lines saying 75 dpi and 100 dpi so that 100 dpi comes first. This means that the X server will find 100 dpi fonts first and use them - they should be more readable than the 75 dpi ones on larger screen. In the XFree4 that comes with SuSE 7.0, the above does work. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 7.0 Professional KMail 1.0.29.2 Bryan S. Tyson bryantyson@earthlink.net ***************************************************
