suse-amd64 Install problems with 9.2 on Tyan S4882
I have been attempting to install Suse 9.2 on a Quad System. Tyan S4882 Mother Board 2 SATA Drives (Raid 0) 1 IBM SCSI Drive connected to LSI Adapter on Motherboard 4GB of memory (would not install with 16GB, so I removed all but 4GB) I have been able to install the OS after removing the memory, but the OS does not recognize the IBM SCSI Drive. It is seen at post, but Suse 9.2 does not recognize it.? Any suggestions? Welcome to the club! I had the same issues with Tyan S2885 Thunder K8W dual 64bit Opteron system with Adaptec SCSI RAID5 and 4G of RAM. SuSE didn't recognize SCSI drives in ether JBOD or RAID5 modes no matter what. Older SuSE 9.1 installed without any glitches on the very same machine. My calls to technical support didn't resolve any issues other than those dummy heads recommended me to buy SLE 9. My guess is that Novell marketing droids have purposely crippled SuSE 9.2 to prevent it from installing on a higher level hardware. Very disgusting marketing practice...
