[opensuse] SuSE Studio, an idiots question...
Hi list, - sorry for missing the obvious, here goes... - I built a simple SuSE using the SuSE Studio. Opted for a USB image and so. Tested it online in the studio, it looks VERY fine. - downloaded the build which - after untarring and so - gave me a 560Mbyte 'raw' file. Eh... do I just dd that into a USB stick? I tried to loop-back mount it as one would do with an ISO image, this didn't work. As always, thank you! That is what I understand about the raw image. It is an image of the disk including the MBR. In your place, I would have dd'd the image onto the USB and try it. It cannot do any harm. -- Arun Khan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Just to make sure it's functional I go "mkfs -t vfat /dev/sdb2" and so. I may then mount it and use it. The device seems to be fine. I unmount it and go dd if=suse.raw of=/dev/sdb2 - but this gives me: dd: skriver til '/dev/sdb2': Ikke mere plads på enheden (above is danish for: writing to /dev/sdb2: no more space on device) 7204+0 records in 7203+0 records out 3687936 bytes (3,7 MB) copied, 0,723217 s, 5,1 MB/s - but wait...the raw file is a mere 1.3Gbyte. Any ideas ? Best regards, Verner -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
