The only difference between the 5300 & 5400 is maximum speed. If 5300 works OK then that's all you need. What does the mom board manual specify? Also, whenever working with memory, it's always a good idea to run memtest before and after installing, to see if any problems appear. Memtest is available by booting from the install CD or DVD.
