Hi All ---
I see Xmovie (http://heroinewarrior.com/xmovie.php3) says it will play
quicktime movies. Unfortunately, it requires kernel 2.4.0, and I'm
waiting for my SuSE 7.1. Has someone tried this, or know an easier
way to watch quicktime on linux? -- Quicktime4linux looks incredibly
tedious to use.
TIA

Huh? I am using Xmovie on a 2.2 kernel without problems.

There is no way to watch QuickTime movies on Linux, since the proprietary codecs are not available. This is stated on the Xmovie home page as well. However, Xmovie is a darn good MPEG movie player! I guess I interpreted Requires libc-2.1.94 Linux-2.4.0 too literally? I will try it out.

Right, it says there is no way to watch compressed Quicktime movies.
Oh well.
Thanks anyhow,

As far as I know xmovie uses quicktime4linux as decoder lib. This one only supports some (non-commercial) codecs. Unfortunately most MOV files found in the internet are encoded with unsupported codecs. Sorry ...
