Promise Software RAID
Hello In June 2005 I bought an ASUS P4C800 Delux main board with a Promise TX4000 chip on it. I downloaded the driver for SuSE Linux 9.1 from www.promise.com and all worked fine. For security reasons I have to update to SuSE Linux 10.0 now, but I cannot find a driver. I tried to compile the source, which can be downloaded from www.promise.com, but this source is for kernel 2.4. How can I install SuSE Linux 10.0 using the Promise Software RAID controller? I could be wrong but when I last checked SuSE10.0 has that driver built in. mmm curious.. I loaded a PC with promise sata drive last week, let me see if it is also a TX4000.. Will get back to you.. Chadley

I feel your pain. Unfortunately, Promise's support is crap. I have an SX4000 and cannot get drivers passed 9.1 and even then, if I patch anything in the kernel at all it would break. My card has since died and so I am just going to go with a GNU/Linux friendly controller. I am leaning towards 3Ware. -- Jeff Dierking jeff@lordjester.com ------------------------ GPG/PGP KeyID 0x5F355DB4 Retrieve pgp-public-keys@pgp.mit.edu?subject=get%200x5F355DB4 ------------------------ History is philosophy teaching by example. --Dionysius of Halicarnassus
