XF86 4.0.2 unstable with ATI Rage 128 GL AGP
Hi, My XF86 crashes about once a day since I upgraded to the 4.0.2 available on SuSE's download site. It has always happened when dragging a window quickly. X simply restarts and sends me back to the kdm login prompt. Am I the only person with this problem? Steve
Well, here is what I wrote two days ago:
OK, I did it, I followed the instructions but SaX2 run is still not sucessfull. I have the following at the end of its log file (attached): Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting
Any idea?
I have a Rage Pro indeed but 4 MB and not 1 like it seems to pretend.
Do you think it is linked? Patrick At 18:04 27/01/01 -0500, you wrote:

No, you're not the only one! I have the same kind of problem, thought not when dragging a window but sometimes, for unknown reason, the server restarts. I experienced this with a Rage 128 RF and a Voodoo3. I also can't use DPMS features of my monitor despite that xset says that X has DPMS capabilities (but that's an other story). I just looked on SuSE's site to see if I could go back a version, and it looks as though the have removed 4.0.1. This is not good! BTW: The last crash I had involved resizing a window and not dragging it. This alway happens with mouse actions on my system. Steve

I looked there too. I found an update to 4.0.2-4 (I was using 4.0.2-2) and had no luck with it regarding stability. I notice that X dies randomly mostly when some soft crashes accidentally. Hi I still have a backup of 4.0.1 ( 33.5MB) Don't know if mailing them will succeed. If interested, I'll try. Filip. Le Dimanche 28 Janvier 2001 21:47, Jean-François Bocquet a écrit :
