I'd like to run a acaching only nameserver. I have taken the following steps. Started named, and set up named.conf with a forward first entry, and a forwarders entry that points to a DNS server. ( This wasnt necessary, since I have the root.hints file). Are all requests automatically cached? Or do I also need to run nscd, with a nscd.conf that caches hostname requests.
