My susewatcher icon is yellow and I have this error: Error retrieving patches: ERROR(Media:connection failed): Unable to get './i386/update/8.2/patches/directory.3' or to read the directory (socket error: 110). I have been getting this for several days. If I manually click "check for updates," after a few minutes a dialog box comes up saying simply "unable to retrieve patches." What can I do? Thank you. ******************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.2 Professional KDE 3.1.1 KMail 1.5.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. Hello Bryan,
Just wanted to let you know that I too have been having this problem for the last several days.

My Susewatcher is always yellow, and it's unable to check for updates, but if I start online update, everything works fine, except for tha last couple of days that is having this problem.

Thank you.
I had this problem, too. I noticed that the mirror at USC has removed its SuSE directories. I think there was some problem at Georgia Tech, too. I just changed the source for updates (through Yast), and I can now do updates through YaST Online Update. But, my YOU icon is yellow and stays that way. Anyway, be sure to browse around and find an FTP site that is working before plugging its IP address into YaST.

I did not see which server it logged into. I was able to successfully complete the desired update. Eversince, my SuSEwatcher icon has remained yellow. - Ram. --

Well, mine is still yellow. I checked the susewatcher log, and it says: online_update -k Error retrieving patches: ERROR(You:File has invalid signature.): But if I do the Online Update, it works only if I select "Reload all patches from server", if not, it gives an error of signature on the patch k_deflt-36077 I did a search, and found that this patch is about the Standard Kernel, but I can't re-install it. Anyone knows how to solve this? Thanks, Filipe Joel de Almeida

Thanks,
Filipe Joel de Almeida
I had this problem where it came up with an error during "Getting patch information" . Each error was about a patch I didn't use/need. I deleted each problem patch description file from the /var/lib/YaST2/you/mnt/i386/update/8.2/patches directory. Now all's well with YOU and I don't have to "reload all patches" anymore. Geoff
