[opensuse] Adobe Flash Player Firefox Plugin
OpenSuSE 10.3 on AMD 64 bit CPU with Firefox 3.0.6. The Adobe Flash Player plugin is installed on the system, but Firefox can't seem to find it. The Adobe website doesn't seem to have a solution to the problem. Assistance will really be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks in advance. It is a 32 bit plugin. You would need nspluginwrapper installed to be able to use it on a 64 bit browser. To see if it is "usable", check with nspluginwrapper -l as root. The plugin should be in /usr/lib/browser-plugins, the nspluginwrapper link would be in /usr/lib64/browser-plugins.

Just in case, if everything else fails, you can install the 32-bit firefox (look for "firefox_32" or something like that in the repo). You should also install: mozilla-xulrunner190-32bit mozilla-xulrunner190-gnomevfs-32bit mozilla-xulrunner190-translations-32bit .. and then check that plugin-wrapper is _not_ enabled. OK! I followed your instructions to the letter and now have libflashplayer-10.0.d21.1.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz installed in /usr/lib/browser-plugins, but no joy with Firefox (even after rebooting the machine). I would assume that I either have not done something correctly or have failed to do something. I really appreciate your assistance. -- -- Stephen P. Just a point of clarification, but you need to unpack the tar.gz first - you shouldn't put the tar.gz in that directory, but the unpacked library. I have installed it on to machines, one old P4 and one new Phenom II, Firefox og libflashplayer.so are working great, but only for max. two or three sides, then Firefox crashes silently. I did exactly all this, and the plugin is there (Shockwave Flash 10.0 d21) and I can watch youtube etc video, but _no audio_. Audio with Real Player and webradio works. Running OpenSUSE 10.3 86x_64, with the YaST installed FF 3.0.5 (64 Bit) and Flash as mentioned above. I tried FF 3.1 b2 also, but the plugin does not show, just a default plugin. FF 3.1 b2 starts with http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.1b2/whatsnew/ which says: * Use the new Private Browsing Mode and the updated Clear Recent History function (in the Tools menu) to keep your holiday shopping a secret. * Tear tabs off the tab bar to create new windows, and drag and drop them from one Firefox window to another. * Control the Smart Location Bar results with special characters <http://ed.agadak.net/2008/07/firefox-31-restricts-matches-keywords>. * Watch a video <http://tinyvid.tv/show/3d198wqepg78m> in your browser without needing any plugins or external media players. The last one "Watch a video ..." does not work either. :-( Al Al -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You can download the new 64 bits alpha libflashplayer.so directly from Adobe. Maybe you are more lucky than I was, on my system it did nothing else than segfault. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
