[opensuse] Virtualbox fails install
I downloaded the latest version of VirtualBox from the Oracle site. When I tried to install it, I get the error shown below. I ran sha256sum on the downloaded file and got the same sha256sum as on the web site. I then tried installing an older version that installed without problem in 13.1, but got the same error. Is there a problem with 42.2 causing this? It didn't fail, it just had no key, so it refused. You can override that or you can go fetch their key and import that into zypper. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yep, I just told it to ignore the failed sha256sum, as I had manually verified it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Opensuse has those packages available, but as usual they are out of date, but perhaps better integrated. Read carefully which packages are for the host, and which are for the guest VM. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have been running VB for a couple of years or so. I initially tried the openSUSE version, but it failed. So, I just download from Oracle. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Where did you see "failed sha256sum"? It told you quite explicitly "Header SHA1 digest: OK, MD5 digest: OK". -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I got that error message when I tried to run Install/Remove software. It wouldn't proceed, unless I clicked on ignore. "Error: INVALID:VirtualBox-5.1-5.1.10_112026_openSUSE132-1.x86_64 (file-d7fca166): Signature verification failed [4-Signatures public key is not available]" Since both it and a previous version, that installed fine on 13.1, got that same error message, I assumed it was just something with 42.2. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, but it is saying "public key is not available", it is not saying "failed sha256sum". On the contrary, it said: Header V4 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 98ab5139: NOKEY Header SHA1 digest: OK (acc64e7f380ddec58b32e64dfa124bd4bcf06d94) MD5 digest: OK (5359b1e717a7c1fbef27432a117bb3b0) V4 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 98ab5139: NOKEY The checksum test did succeed. What fails is the signature (PGP), that it doesn't have the public part of the same to compare to. You need to download and install the public key, separately. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
