This doesn't mean that the isos are good. You must check the MD5 checksum from the installer. You can check it from the beginning of the installation. <<Eso no significa que las images iso estan bien. Debes verificar el MD5 a partir del instalador. Puedes verifica los desde el comienzo del instalador Yast . Perdone mi malo espanol.>>
Have you tried to install failsafe or apic=off (or is it acpi=off?)? OJ -- 24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I don't think so. (Stephen Wright)

Hi Johannes, apic <==> noapic acpi acpi=pci == pci=routeirq acpi=off Also try "man bootparam" and take a look at $kernel_source/Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt -- mdc
I checked the Cds with MD5sum, and there're ok. i tried to install with apic=off and then im getting the same error. the problem begin with this field, called kernel-update-tool-0.9-6.noarch it give me a error, and the installation stoped in that field, and it doesnt continue. i click on reintent, and ignore, but it stoped there.

Don't choose the default packages selection and remove kernel-update-tool

Can you switch to the text consoles with CTRL-ALT-F3 or CTRL-ALT-F4? Cheers -e -- Eberhard Moenkeberg (emoenke@gwdg.de, em@kki.org)

The question is if the ISOs downloaded have the official MD5SUM. The md5sums for are held in the file named "MD5SUMS" in the folder where you downloaded the ISOs from. If you copy the file "MD5SUMS" into the folder where you downloaded the ISOs you just need to call "md5sum .c MD5SUMS". Status messages will be displayed indicating if the check sums are ok or not. Another way is to check the consistensy of the CDs itself after the first CD is bootet up. The question is if you reach that point ... Are the 2% of "installation" you are mentioning displayed on a graphical screen or are these 2% displayed in an ordinary text mode ? If the later one is the case the boot of the installation CD gets stuck. But then you can't say "2% of the installation". Here I would advise to use either the "safe settings" installation or to specify "acpi=off" during boot time in the grub option line. On the other hand if you really installed SuSE 9.3 on that particular maschine without specifying any special option during boot time it should work with 10.0rc1 as well. Best regards, Reinhard.

Can you - at the stopping point - still look into the text consoles (CTL-ALT-F3 etc.)? Cheers -e -- Eberhard Moenkeberg (emoenke@gwdg.de, em@kki.org)
