Mother board sound sistem (AG97 VIA 8233) detected but not working
Hello KDE Control Information at my Suse 8.0 says that i have the following card: ------------------ KDE Control Sound Information -------------- Sound Driver:3.8.1 a-980706 (ALSA v0.90beta12 emulation code) Kernel: Linux achinech 2.4.18-4GB #1 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 10:ALSA emulation Card config: VIA 8233 at 0xe400, irq 9 Audio devices: 0:VIA 8233 (DUPLEX) Synth devices:NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Timers: 7:system timer Mixers: 0:mixer00 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Suse 8.0 detected it and installed it but no sound come out from it. Volume is set hight but nothing can be heared. Sound is integrated into Motherboard Any idea? regards guanche

Although the volume may be turned up the other possibility is that the output you want may be muted. Personally I would check w/ kmix, if the green "led's" are lit then the channel should be auible. Another option would be to try re-installing the sound hardware w/ yast. although this doesn't seem likely considering your output from kcontrolcenter.
