Hello all, Prior to installing SuSE 9.3 I saved the Mail directory and after the installation I resored the the Mail directory so I keep all my previous e-mail. Now when I start Kmail all the mail directory are there in Kmail and the mail also but I can no longer read those mail. They are shown in Kmail with the correct subject but when I click to open the mail..the Subject is change for 'No Subject' and a new window mail is open but no mail is shown. if I use Konqueror to browse the the mail directory and click on a mail I can open it with no problem. Can anybody help me to how do I now setup Kmail to read my old mail correctly.. Thanks for the help Yahoo! Mail Stay connected, organized, and protected. Maybe export to 3rd mail program and import from will help you. See the list of import formats that kmail can recognize (Tools->Import Messages) -- Marek Chlopek

The index files are probably misleading kmail. Shut down kmail and delete the index files, then kmail will regenerate correct indices when it starts up You will find the index files in the Mail directory, with names like .<folder>.index, .<folder>.index.ids and so on

Hi, I had the same problen when I installed 9.3 and regenerating the indexes did not work. Someone on the KDE listserver advised that this is a known prob and currently unsolved. PeterB

Hi,

Here's how I solved the problem. First I found that the new location for the mail stuff is in /home/<user>/.kde/share/aps/kmail/mail. So I deleted the index files in that location, them moved the old Mail directories (without the index files) into that directory overwriting all that was there. Finally I fired up kmail and voila, it was all there and has been working fine for the past week! I dont know if that is the "proper" way to do it, but it worked for me! Richard

(I don't claim credit for this. I posted the same question when I installed 9.2). Gervase
