If I have Suse 10.0 with kernel 2.6.13-15-default and I wan´t to use kernel 2.6.18. After I have compiled the kernel 2.6.18, can I put the 2.6.18 kernel source in /usr/src/linux-2.6.18 and change the link ´linux´ to point to ´linux-2.6.18´ ?. (As the only kernel src on my system). The README file that comes with the kernel says: "Do NOT use the /usr/src/linux area! This area has a (usually incomplete) set of kernel headers that are used by the library header files. They should match the library, and not get messed up by whatever the kernel-du-jour happens to be." I don´t realy get this. As I see it, if I compile and use a new kernel I should have the new kernel source in place. (Atleast it "feels" right). -- /Peo -- Registered Linux User #432116, get counted at http://counter.li.org -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
