[opensuse] openSUSE 10.3 with compiz on AMD64
Is there a problem with compiz on AMD64? I enabled compiz a week or two ago, and am now getting a number of SIGSEV messages from KDE. They result in all windows losing their title bars, but otherwise everything works OK. I just have to close the session and restart to get window decorations back. Just wondered if it was a known problem, or if there was anything I could do about it. ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (RV5157146) graphics card, BTW. Fully up-to-date driver from the repository. However now, if I try to get to the ATI control centre I get an error message saying: "There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition. It could be caused by the following: No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for you [sic] ATI hardware, or configure using aticonfig" According to YAST, the driver version is: 8.493_2.6.22.17_0.1-1.2 I tried running aticonfig --initial, but that didn't change anything. The control centre used to come up just fine. I can't prove that its current failure is down to compiz being enabled, though. Not a major problem. The sky will probably stay where it is, but I'm curious. Cheers Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
