intel i810 Dell graphics
Try as I may with sax2, yast and /etc/xorg.conf I simply cannot get anything greater than 640x480 resolution. I hear that xorg 7.0 may be the solution. Meanwhile, google throws up few if any clues to grasp onto. _Will_ a Dell inspiron PIV with 512Mb give anything other than 640x480 with SuSE 10.0? Can anyone help us? Thanks, Steve.

In BIOS, search something like "video buffer". It will have value of 1Mb. Increase it. Regards

For clues, you should inspect the xorg file in /var/log for EE errors.

My i810e BIOS has a choice between 1M, and half that. At 1M, mine runs fine at 1400x1050x16bit. -- "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Psalm 33:12 NIV Team OS/2 ** Reg. Linux User #211409 Felix Miata *** http://mrmazda.no-ip.com/

Hi Everyone. Thank you. Our confidence in Dell and Linux has been restored. The 1 to 8Mb. tip worked just fine. Steve.

hi steve, i'm a linux newbie and maybe this is something completely different from what you need but "855resolution" helped me with my acer aspire (which has intel 915) and when i google "855resolution and 810" the first result suggests trying this: http://i810fb.sourceforge.net/ t.
