15.4 - Thunderbird 90.10 - filters sorting mail into arbitrary folders
All, I just got a shock today with Thunderbird 91.10 on 15.4. First indication something was whacked was 1/2 the mail from the linux-kernel list was in junk. Then checking the linux-raid folder I found all the messages from Simon on the factory list there. Has anyone else seen filter oddness or corruption on the current Thunderbird? -- David C. Checking filters, there is a new: SpamAssassinYes filter at the top with two empty rules, and a mozilla-temporary-IDN..... filter below it also with two empty rules Now I use filters regularly, and I haven't seen these two filters before, maybe something new in TB 91, but I suspect this is part of the problem. However it doesn't explain why factory mail was ending up in the linux-raid folder. Now sure what to think of these filters. For other accounts for my servers I have a spamassassin rule, but that has never been the case with my ISPs account?? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Damn, This seems to be some type of regression of something just triggered a bunch of old Mozilla bugs, e.g. mozilla-temporary-internal-MDN-receipt-filter: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1648706 https://support.mozilla.org/gl/questions/1353471 SpamAssassinYes: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=534897 -- David C. SpamAssassinYes:
Worst part is it wiped out thousands and thousands of e-mails from my 'Sent' folder. Literally every message I've sent in the past 15 years is gone. (glad I did a full backup before testing the High CPU Usage bug with Mozilla a couple of weeks ago....) I don't know what triggered this, whether an index got corrupted? I think I recall a way to force a rebuild of a folder index, and I'll try that. Data loss is a serious bug. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Right click on folder, then properties. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.3 (Legolas))

Tried it -- all the messages are just gone. Most bizarre thing I've ever seen. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Too bad. I don't have those filters you mention, and I have the same Th version, but on 15.3. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from Elesar, using openSUSE Leap 15.3)

This should not be a problem now, because Thunderbird 91.10 has been superseded by Thunderbird 91.11. For 15.4: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_Leap_15.4/x86_64... For 15.3: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_Leap_15.3/x86_64... Per Inge Oestmoen, Norway
