[SLE] Cannot open font hp8.8x16
Hello Linux folks. I started to implement Linux (SuSE 6.3) at my workplace. My boss is a very positive about giving Linux a try. In our Integration Dept. we are using HP-UX B.10.20 workstations. I can run in X-term on Linux box most of HP-UX applications, but one major application won't run for the reason:Cannot open font hp8.8x16. When I'm starting application from HP-UX on Linux box I'm doing: telnet HP-UX login: Password: export DISPLAY=linux:0.0 start_application & application: Cannot open font hp8.8x16 And it stops. Could somebody give me a hand how to fix this issue? Should I export this font from HP-UX box and put it in Linux font directory or there is another work around? Any your help is greatly appreciated. You'll probably want to run a font server.
look into xfs (try a 'man xfs'). Run the font server off the HPUX box (if
they can do that; I'll be damned if I know), and set the font path in
/etc/XF86Config accordingly. Check the man on XF86Config.
Hope this helps,
kw

When I set up my NCD Xterms, I copied all the fonts from the HP box to my local box. Keith Warno wrote:

OK, so you're having problems after copying the fonts?
Perhaps you need to do a mkfontdir?
