[opensuse] fwbuilder & libnetsnmp.so.15 - OpenSUSE 11.3
When I try to install fwbuilder on OpenSUSE 11.3, it fails with an error about a dependency "libnetsnmp.so.15". I do not see that package as available in Software Management, but I see libnetsnmp.so.20 is installed. Is it safe to ignore the dependency for libnetsnmp.so.15? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It's probably safe, but your fwbuilder might not work afterwards. You can downgrade libnetsnmp to .15 - I'm pretty certain that's what I've done in order to install the HP Proliant Support Pack (which also requires .15). -- Per Jessen, Zürich (4.6°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have found another site that claims to be for 11.3. However, even with that file, I still run into dependency issues. You'd think if it's targeted for a specific distro, they'd find the required dependencies without having to downgrade something. I guess they don't want people to install this package. :-( http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/worldcitizen/openSUSE_11.3/i... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Or that it had actually been tested on a vanilla 11.3. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (4.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I wanted to use fwbuilder because it supports IPv6. Any other suggestions?
Have you used http://software.opensuse.org/search to find a package? Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

In such cases you should also tell from where you are taking a package. If it's from some home: project on obs it's your own fault as these are totally unchecked playgrounds of their respective owner. So either you really know what you're doing or otherwise stay away from them. Do you know of another source for fwbuilder? I only want it because it supports IPv6 and the Yast Firewall configuration doesn't seem to. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Both SuSEFirewall2 and yast2 firewall handle IPv6 transparently. What is missing? What do you need? Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, it's so transparent that services I hadn't enabled in Yast firewall in IPv4 were blocked in IPv4, but not IPv6. For example, I could access a test web site on a computer that's behind my firewall on IPv6, even though port 80 was blocked for IPv4. I use a 6in4 tunnel to get IPv6 and that tunnel is in the external zone, which should have been blocked for port 80. However, I've now got fwbuilder installed, so I'll have to see how it does. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
