[SuSE Linux] Secure Socket Layering
Hello, The contents of this e-mail are written in a way that will hopefully encourage people to write and make comments. Perhaps SSL is a controversial topic ? For some time now I've had an e-mail chat about various aspects of SSL with people from all over the world. I get all sorts of feedback which goes from near derision to an understanding that SSL is a good protocol that should be used by all. I've read the stuff on the internet about the cyberpunks giving a public demo of how to crack it and various other web pages. Those of us who do not know may wish to view...... <A HREF="http://pauillac.inria.fr/~doligez/ssl/</A">http://pauillac.inria.fr/~doligez/ssl/</A> I thought that I might make the comment that surely Linux is an ideal platform on which to try out SSL ? If anyone is going to crack the protocol then surely a patch can be produced fairly quickly ? My own interest began when someone pointed out to me that if I were to connect my Linux box to the internet through a modem and an ISP then SSL would protect the rest of my own small domestic network. It would be the best solution for myself. Of course, time moves on and now I'm not too sure :) Perhaps someone might like to send in some comments ?
