Would someone kindly tell me what in the hell is going on with the configuration GUI for fetchmail? You type /usr/bin/fetchmailconf and a box comes up with two (2) input spaces, one of which is sayes Poll interval and the box already has a 0 posted in the space. The other box says New Server. Upon consulting the help utility you are isntructed to enter your pop 3 server address, your user name and password. Guess what? There ain't no place to enter the inforrmation. Is this some programmer's idea of fun? As you may be able to tell by now, I'm less that my usual, easy going, self right now. Every now and again I run into this kind of bull in Unix/Linux and I wish I knew who was responsible so I could write him/her an email that would burn down his/her mail box. Anyone know how a person is supposed to configure this program so I can get on with it? Any help is appreciated. Type in the mail server name in New server entry field and press enter. It will then be listed in the box right underneth it. Now hilight the server name and click on the edit button and you will see the configuration dialog box popping up. Thank you for the information. I guess I was supposed to intuitively know this. It sure would have helped if this same information could have been included in the help file. Every now and again I run into this kind of bull in Unix/Linux and I wish I knew who was responsible so I could write him/her an email that would burn down his/her mail box.
Eric Raymond ( http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr ) is responsible. Though it would be funny to assume he owed you something when not only he took the time to make fetchmailconf -- something to make fetchmail easier to config than through editing config files (like most programs) -- but also gave it away for free. Anyways, if your fetchmailconf is like mine, click 'Configure Fetchmail' then 'Novice configuration'. In poll interval type in how often fetchmail should check for mail (in seconds). In New server, type in the name of the mail server then press <enter>. Now select the server you just added and click edit. Hopefully you have the hang of it by now. /david/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
