as mentioned before YOU is not for upgrading between distribution releases but for upgrading packages of a single distribution release. afaik because i never seen YOU. use da floppy =)

Each time when I try YOU Yast2 online update to bring in the 7.1 updates to 7.1 via ftp it works fine so there is no network problem. If anyone on this list has successfully upgraded 7.1 to 7.2 via FTP please share with the rest of us how you did it!!

I'm sorry I wasn't clearer. I only mentioned YOU to show that the hardware and network were working correctly; I didn't use YOU to upgrade releases. I followed some of the suggestions on this list and in the SDB. The floppy (or cd ) boot is required to upgrade because you can't overwrite a RUNNING system. I should mention that I am behind a SMC Barracade DSL router ( DHCP Server). I still would like to hear from anyone who has upgraded from 7.1 to 7.2 via FTP!! Thanks again .................
