[SuSE Linux] email problems here - can someone help

I am having some problems with my upstream smtp host that I usually pass email to. Now I have my box handling email which I feel better about. How does one get netscape to use the localhost and not queue the email? -- Michael E. Hi:=) There is a parameter in /etc/sendmai.cf concerning "Type", (or you can do it via yast by enabling the expensive mail question:-) At any rate, if you change that to either "deferred" or "background", netscape should also use the localhost. Or, in case I misunderstood your question, answer your mail online, and Netscape will try to send it immediately:-) Michael Perry wrote:

Not sure if this is exactly what your asking, but let me describe my setup, I'm using AfterStep and really like the asmail program shows how many incoming mails I have, spinning logo, etc.. Anyway, I use fetchamil to grab my e-mail from my various shells, and it stores it in the usual location. I use netscape to view and download them from the localhost which basically clears the /var/spool/mail/user file. If this is what your talking about, heres what I did: goto prefs in netscape select mail servers select your mail server in list then select edit change server type to movemail make sure your username matches that of localhost Otherwise I'm not positive what exactly your asking and trying to do. -- Ec|ipse on EFnet - tomas@primenet.com - <A HREF="http://www.primenet.com/~tomas"><A HREF="http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A">http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A</A>> Ec|ipse@|Watcher| - botnet webpage down until further notice Slackware Linux v3.6+ - Kernels 2.0.35/2.2.0p7 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
