Re: [SLE] Printerserver
If from windows, I can use samba that is with in the Clarkconnect server.
Hi Will.
I have roughly the same set up, except I only have 7.3. It should go something like this though:
Ok fine.
Yast2- hardware- edit printers
You have to go into the printers via the printericon ?.
Then just fill in the blanks. Use Windows/samba in the first page and yast2 should auto detect when you hit the lookup button for printer and que on the second page. Pick the manufacturer and printer and Yast2 should give you a list of drivers for your printer. I just used the defaults and all worked as expected.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by the blanks even it of course are empty fields ?.
Works good from 2kpro and 2k server. Just can't get it to work with the mac, which I haven't had the time to work on. (somebody on the list sent me a msg about it, I work on it when I get a chance)
Good.
Side note: You also can use CC as a file server also. You just have to manual type in the internal ip address in your windows network wizard. CC doesn't broadcast on internal network so requests have to be specifically directed to it. Does sometimes show up when you do an active scan. I use it to store drivers since it is the only machine on my network that is easily found and accessed.
I use my CC as a gateway/router and mailserver. Have just got the mailserver up running. Then I can manage my domain by my own.
Hopefully it works for you. My apologies to the list for the long winded reply.
Well then I finally needs to know how I do the printing via the CC computer from my SuSE 8.2 computer here. I have never used to do printing from one linux computer to another one (her the CC one). I have before tried to use samba. Could I see your smb.conf file for the CC ?. -- Med venlig hilsen - Best regards. Erik Jakobsen - eja@urbakken.dk. Licensed radioamateur with the callsign OZ4KK.
