Hello, I am using Suse 9.1 Pro with kernel 2.6.5 on a dual boot Toshiba Laptop. Today, I tried a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse for the first time, and I installed the accompanying CD on the Windows partition. Then, I booted the Suse partition, with the receiver connected to a USB port and hoped that Suse would detect the device. Instead, my login screen is completely messed up, and the mouse icon is like a large square. I have to switch to tty1 to shutdown. How should I proceed to restore my login screen? How can I get this mouse to work on Suse? John
If M$ is involved ANYWHERE, that is most likely what messed it up! (sorry couldn't resist) seriously: Is the screen messed up still with the mouse unplugged? I wouldn't have expeced a usb device / mouse to change screen unless something to do with hardware cursor rendering or something like that. I use usb / cordless usb mice all the time and haven't seen that before. When you switch back to tty1 to shutdown, can you try an init 3 instead and run sax2 to configure the mouse as usb mouse -> imp/ps2? B-) On Wednesday 01 December 2004 03:42 pm, John Ryan wrote:
