RE: [SLE] How to run M$ Office applications on Linux box over network?
install vnc from the SuSE cds or visit http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ for the latest version. Run the server on a Win box, connect using the Linux client. Run the Win desktop as if it were on your box, print via Samba. -----Original Message----- From: Rogier Maas [SMTP:icarus@guldennet.nl] Sent: Sunday, January 02, 2000 8:31 PM To: alex@daniloff.com Cc: suse-linux-e@suse.com; plug@northwest.com Subject: Re: [SLE] How to run M$ Office applications on Linux box over network? I know of one way to do that: install Windows NT Terminal Server or Citrix. That's an application server (AS) to which you can connect and work on. I don't know if there's a client for Linux/UNIX, I do know it's not the same principle as X Windows. Good luck Rogier Alexander Daniloff wrote:
Hello Linux folks! I have to use some M$ Office applications for my job. I know that I can run them under Linux using emulators like vine or
vmware.
But for this task I must create FAT32 partition and install Winblows with all needed M$ applications on my Linux server HD. I don't want to do that. Is there any possibility tor run Winblows applications installed on pure Winblows box under Linux over network. Kind of idea of Winblows application server. Any your help or suggestions are gladly appreciated. Thanks. Alex
